Wing Ice Light

System Description:

Given the dangers of ice accumulation on aircraft leading edges, it is very important that pilots make frequent visual checks so that they know when to take appropriate action.

During the day, pilots can easily observe the wing leading edge (or, if wearing an IF visor, ask their FI/examiner to do so), but in the dark of night this could be difficult.

Therefore, a light is fitted to the outboard side of the left-hand engine nacelle that illuminates the leading edge of the left-hand wing.

Ice Protection Controls

Activated by use of the ICE LIGHT switch on the ice protection control panel, the light must be examined during the A/A1 check and serviceable before flight at night in possible icing conditions.
